FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 28 MAY 2010
Scotland’s leading music scene social night, Born To Be Wide, returns to Inverness on Thurs 10 and Fri 11 June to host a series of seminars at the goNorth conference.
GoNorth combines numerous seminars, workshops and live showcases in several city centre venues, catering for everyone from musicians in their first band to seasoned industry professionals. All events are free and anyone wishing to attend simply registers at www.gonorth.biz under the delegates section.
Young musicians and budding music business entrepreneurs are also invited to attend the goNorth Fringe, which takes place on Wednesday 9 June in the Ironworks venue and is open to under 18s.
Among the topics to be covered by the Born To Be Wide seminars are music management and how to get your music used in film, television and adverts. There will also be panels on how to make the most money from music with little additional work and a discussion featuring artists who take care of their own booking, releases and promotion.
“GoNorth boasts an impressive range of seminars, speakers and bands, and the amazing thing is that anyone can come along because it’s all free, they simply need to register online,” explains Born To Be Wide co-organiser, Derick Mackinnon.
“The opportunity for gaining an insight into the industry and networking in a small intimate city will prove invaluable to anyone who travels to Inverness.”
Anyone quoting the Born To Be Wide reference will be entitled to a 20% discount at the Highlander Hostel, located only two minutes from the Ramada Jarvis hotel where the seminars take place. Return travel with Megabus from Edinburgh / Glasgow costs just over £10, meaning that travel and accommodation for two nights would come to less than £30.
“We are delighted to be working with Born To Be Wide again and know that Olaf and Derick will make an outstanding contribution to an outstanding event,” says goNorth organiser Shaun Arnold.
