CAMPFIRES IN WINTER Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday
Scotland On Sunday, 12 February 2017, Campfires In Winter

Campfires In Winter are an indie-rock quartet from Croy.

They release their debut album ‘Ischaemia’ on 24 February through excellent Glasgow label Olive Grove Records and it was produced by Andy Bush (The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks), thanks to funding from Creative Scotland.

The band have built a loyal fanbase and have enjoyed airplay from Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 6) and Vic Galloway (BBC Radio Scotland) as well as coverage in newspapers and online blogs.

Their sound is a powerful mix of post-rock guitars, dreamy piano, multi-part vocal harmonies, and Robert Canavan’s lilting Scottish accent on top – it’s a fantastic debut!

They launch the album with support from American Clay and Book Group at The Old Hairdressers in Glasgow on 24 February. Watch the official video for lead single ’Free Me From The Howl’ press Play below:

BLOKE MUSIC Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday
Scotland On Sunday, 5 February 2017, Bloke Music

Glasgow’s Armellodie Records has an impressive pedigree when it comes to releasing original music which pushes the envelop and the label’s latest – an eponymous EP by Bloke Music out on 10 February – is no exception.

A supergroup consisting of difficult-listening stalwarts including former members of Gastric Band and Super Adventure Club, they describe their songs as a blend of prog rock, contemporary classical and Michael McDonald.

We also detect a hint of The Tubes and an Alex Harvey-style vocal which deliver lyrics that eschew the rhyme crimes committed by far too many acts.

Bloke Music reckon that this collection of five songs will “make you pout and gyrate like a pissed uncle at a wedding.” Listen to their lead single Mortise and Tenon below:
