THE COGNAC TWINS Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 20 August 2017, The Cognac Twins

Dunfermline duo, Craig Anderson and Paul Connelly aka The Cognac Twins have a long history of gigging together, but only recently got round to recording an album.

Inspired by a trip to France, and dedicated to a French musician who died this year, it is a soulful collection of songs with a folky feel, with guest musicians providing double bass, viola and keyboards.

Recorded and produced by Liam Saunders at his Loopmaniac Studio in Dunfirmline, the eponymous album has already piqued the interest of Radio Scotland’s Roddy Hart, who played the track Bricks and Mortar. https://soundcloud.com/loopmaniac/bricks-and-mortar

The Cognac Twins follow their vinyl launch party at Dunfermline’s Firestation Gallery on 1 September, with slots at the Mary Queen Of Scots Festival (2 September), the Outwith Festival (8-9 Septmber) and a series of living room shows scheduled for October.

NORTH ATLAS Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 13 August 2017, North Atlas

Hailing from Dumfries, North Atlas are a Glasgow-based electro-rock quartet for fans of Biffy Clyro and Imagine Dragons.

Their excellent new single ’Another Ocean’ is released on 8 September via their own label, King of the Woods Recordings, and was produced by award-winning Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Young Guns) at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire.

Formed just last year, they’ve already supported high profile acts including Feeder and Reverend And The Makers as well as securing a slot at Tenement TV’s Tenement Trail. Through shear hard graft North Atlas even managed to sell out Manchester venue Night & Day Cafe.

They play live at Edinburgh’s Opium venue on Friday and officially launch their new single at Stereo in Glasgow on Saturday 7 October. For information and tickets see www.northatlas.co.uk Listen to ’Another Ocean’ exclusively at http://bit.ly/NorthAtlas-SoS
