MONKOORA Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 30 April 2017, Monkoora

Monkoora is the musical moniker for producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer Julie Fern Crawford.

Her new six-track EP (seven including a radio edit of lead single ’Bocx Wurld’), was released last week via Glasgow-based artist management agency and record label Hot Gem.

The single has picked up radio support, while last year’s mini-LP, ‘Pale Slopes’ is on the eligibles list for this years Scottish Album of the Year award.

Monkoora creates bright bubble-gum electronica pop music, but with meaty lyrics exploring sexual politics, and philosophy.

We highly recommend seeing Monkoora live as part of Edinburgh’s Hidden Door Festival on 3 June.

MT. DOUBT Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday
Scotland On Sunday, 12 March 2017, MT. DOUBT

MT. DOUBT began two years ago in Edinburgh as the solo project of singer-songwriter Leo Bargery, and is now a very promising sextet.

They release latest single ’Tourists’ through Scottish Fiction records on 31 March as a split 7’ vinyl alongside Dunfermline band Foreignfox (for their single Lights Off Carry Me Home).

Mt. Doubt have been on our radar for a while. They’ve played T In The Park, supported artists like White Lies and Admiral Fallow and Bargery’s distinctive vocals and accomplished songwriting have led to airplay on Roddy Hart’s BBC Radio Scotland show and BBC 6 Music.

See Mt. Doubt and Foreignfox perform live together on 7 April at Beat Generator in Dundee and 8 April at Nice ’N’ Sleazy’s in Glasgow. Support for both gigs comes from young Edinburgh quartet SKJØR who we featured last year. Listen to ’Tourists’ at https://soundcloud.com/mtdoubt
