Man Of Moon are 19-year-old duo, Michael Reid and Chris Bainbridge, who we first encountered last year via youth music touring project Hit The Road . Since then, their profile has grown significantly, thanks to support slots with bands like The Twilight Sad and The Phantom Band plus airplay and festival appearances.

Their debut split single ‘The Road / This World’ was recorded and produced by Andy Monaghan of Frightened Rabbit and is released on Melodic Records this month.

The pair are musically tight; both melodic and dark. Their psychedelic, alt-rock sound blends hypnotic guitar lines and chunky chords with dreamy, reverb-drenched vocals.

Man Of Moon host launch gigs for the single on Thursday at Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms, and on Friday at Glasgow’s Hug and Pint, followed by appearances at Belladrum Festival on 8 August and Electric Fields on 29 August.

Dundee’s The Mirror Trap [www.facebook.com/themirrortrap] have built a decent profile in Scotland, enjoying a T-Break slot at T In The Park, as well as recording sessions on Vic Galloway’s Radio Scotland show and BBC Introducing. However, it is further afield where the band’s fame looks set to really grow, as they embark on a tour taking in some of Europe’s most respected festivals in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Croatia and Russia.

With their Stay Young album and recent EP Silent Men, the band have honed an 80s indie sound which manages to be anthemic and rousing, without resorting to the air-punching cringe of so many current acts who simply mainlined their dad’s U2 collection.

The track Killing Time http://bit.ly/1S3WY7Q is one of our favourites, and like many of The Mirror Trap’s releases, is accompanied by a video. We recommend checking out all their clips on www.youtube.com/themirrortrap and look forward to seeing them at Belladrum, when they return to these shores.
