NOVEMBER LIGHTS Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday
Scotland On Sunday, 30 October 2016, November Lights

Originally from The Three Towns area, northwest of Kilwinning, indie-pop band November Lights now live and study in Glasgow.

The young trio have supported bands like Fatherson and The LaFontaines and we first encountered them at the XpoNorth festival then again in August via youth music touring initiative Hit The Road.

Their catchy new single ’A.U.X’ is an excellent indication of what to expect from their EP ‘Talk’ due out at the end of next month.

In support of the release of th EP, the band embark on a mini-tour, performing at Cafe Drummonds in Aberdeen on 9 December at The Hug and Pint in Glasgow on 10 December and at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh on 11 December. Retro Video Club and Audiokicks join them on tour.

MICKEY 9s Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday
Scotland On Sunday, 9 October 2016, Mickey 9s

Last weekend some four hundred people, including the Happy Monday’s mascot Bez, piled into a former snooker hall in Glasgow and went wild. The occasion was a special pre-launch for the Mickey 9s new album, Galactic Radio.

With a blend of meaty basslines, jaggy guitars, up-tempo rhythms and idiosyncratic vocals, the enthusiastic audience is no surprise – the four-piece won the Scottish Alternative Music Award for Best Live Act in 2014 and have played numerous festivals.

An exact release date has still to be set for Galactic Radio, but the band have given us a sneak preview of what is likely to be the first single, Planet, one of the poppier numbers on a collection of tunes which packs a powerful disco-infused punch:
