The announcements represent a significant boost for the youth music activities carried out by the Scottish Music Centre across Scotland.

PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Partners are selected for the quality and range of opportunities they offer and the year-round impact their work is having on the music creators they support.

Help Musicians UK National Grants Programme Awardees are supported for three years. HMUK invest in organisations where innovation is supported and progressive services and opportunities for musicians are delivered.

These announcements will enable Scottish Music Centre, through their national youth music initiatives, to further nurture and develop musical talent throughout Scotland over the next three years. The additional support will be used to expand and enhance existing projects as well as creating new intensive artist development opportunities.

Scottish Music Centre currently manages two national youth music projects, mentoring initiative Music Plus+ and touring project Hit The Road

Both projects have secured performance slots and training roles at festivals including Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and Electric Fields as well as helping emerging bands and artists gain coverage in national newspapers, radio, TV and online.

Gill Maxwell, Executive Director of the Scottish Music Centre, said,
“We are thrilled to announce Help Musicians UK is supporting Scottish Music Centre to further develop our activities throughout Scotland over the next three years. At the same time, we are delighted to become a PRS for Music Foundation Talent Development Partner. This is very exciting news for musicians living in Scotland and we look forward to working together with our new partners, to invest in further nurturing and developing young musical talent across the country.”
