THE DUNTS Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 11 February 2018, The Dunts

The Dunts are a brilliant punk rock band from Glasgow.

Single ’Dimitri’ was played by Huw Stephens on Radio 1, Vic Galloway on BBC Radio Scotland and Tom Robinson on Radio 6, and it has clocked up more than 100,000 plays via Spotify.

The young quartet have a knack for writing melodic yet riotous punk/rock anthems and they’ve sold-out Glasgow’s King Tuts as a result. We recommend seeing them live. They play The Windsor in Kirkcaldy on Friday, Sneaky Petes in Edinburgh on 2 March, Bakers in Kilmarnock on 3 March, Glasgow’s Stereo on 6 April, with a FREE single launch on 26 April at The Lock Tavern in London. Festival bookings include Glasgow’s multi-venue Stag & Dagger on 6 May and Songs From Northern Britain in Stockton-on-Tees on 12 May. Watch out for the announcement of European tour dates at www.facebook.com/thedunts and www.thedunts.co.uk

Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon, Scotland On Sunday, 20 March, Tongues

Based in Glasgow, electro-pop quartet Tongues have featured on Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio 1 show and BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway tipped them as ones to watch for 2016.

Singles Religion and You Never Knew Me lit up the blogosphere, receiving over one million plays across SoundCloud and Spotify, and a No 1 spot on Hypem.com

They sound like a household name; uplifting vocals, soaring melodies and insanely catchy hooks coupled with a masterful use of synthesisers, vocoders, bleeps and blips. The real surprise is a major record label hasn’t signed them!

We were so impressed, we’ve booked them for our Wide Days festival on 22 April at La Belle Angèle [click for FREE tickets] in Edinburgh. With a new release scheduled for late April / early May, they’ll be announcing live appearances to coincide shortly. We predict big things.
