With fans as diverse as Russell Brand and Irvine Welsh [with whom he shares a hairdresser] Dean Owens has carved out a reputation as a Scottish troubadour, boasting a story-telling sensibility which deftly straddles folk and Americana.
His latest album, Into The Sea, was recorded at Neilson Hubbard’s Mr Lemon Studios in Nashville and sees the Leither again collaborating with Alabama-born Will Kimbrough, who has worked with artists including Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle and Emmylou Harris.

Released tomorrow on London label Drumfire Records, it includes the excellent Closer To Home http://bit.ly/1GZ7DM2 which came out to coincide with Armistice Day, and the latest single Evergreen http://bit.ly/1EQ5ktV

The latter has been playlisted by Radio Scotland and will feature in Bob Harris’ Under The Apple Tree session.
Summer Scottish dates including Clarks in Dundee [11 June], Leith Festival [12 June], Stirling’s Tolbooth [19 June] and the Southern Fried American Festival in Perth on 1 August. www.deanowens.com
