FOGGY CITY ORPHAN Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday
Scotland On Sunday, 24 September 2017, Foggy City Orphan

Glasgow quartet, Foggy City Orphan combine family members with school friends – brothers John and Paul McLinden on guitar and vocal duties,  and Michael Valente on bass and Stephen Sweeney on drums.

Taken from their debut album, which was produced by Paul Savage (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, Arab Strap), the band release excellent new single Fake News Blues on 9 October. It’s a short, sharp slice of topical indie/rock social commentary, poking fun at Trump and fake news in general.

The single has gained airplay from Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, Billy Sloan via BBC Radio Scotland and they played XpoNorth and TRNSMT Festivals earlier this year.

Catch them live on 26 October when they headline a BBC Introducing gig at Glasgow’s King Tuts.

LEWIS CAPALDI Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 9 April 2017, Lewis Capaldi

LEWIS CAPALDI is a gifted young singer-songwriter from Bathgate in West Lothian. We first saw him tour with youth music project Hit The Road a few years ago, and he’s been on our radar ever since.

Fast-forward to present day, he sold out Glasgow’s King Tuts in January and his debut single Bruises, released only nine days ago, has achieved over one million plays via Spotify.

Capaldi boasts a distinctive, powerful voice, and possesses an uncanny ability to turn personal, poignant lyrics into hit songs with universal appeal. It’s clear this rising star is poised to make a significant impact.

See the young songwriter live on Wednesday at The Tunnels in Aberdeen, The Ironworks in Inverness on Thursday and The Mash House in Edinburgh on Friday.
