Hit The Road is a youth music touring initiative, and Music Plus is a mentoring project. Both are run by the Scottish Music Centre, and funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) with Hit The Road also benefiting from support through PRS for Music Foundation.
Both initiatives have helped nurture and develop the careers of hundreds of young people living in Scotland 14-19 years old including; KLOE, Model Aeroplanes, JR Green, Indigo Velvet, Man of Moon, Lewis Capaldi, Be Charlotte, TAMZENE, Emme Woods, Scope, Iona Fyfe music bloggers Vinyl Noise and are now OPEN for applications for 2017.

Glasgow’s Scottish Music Centre today announces a significant boost to youth music activities throughout Scotland with news the centre has become a PRS for Music Foundation Talent Development Partner and is one of two Scotland-based organisations receiving support for the next 3 years through Help Musicians UK’s National Grants Programme
The announcements represent a significant boost for the youth music activities carried out by the Scottish Music Centre across Scotland.
PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Partners are selected for the quality and range of opportunities they offer and the year-round impact their work is having on the music creators they support.
Help Musicians UK National Grants Programme Awardees are supported for three years. HMUK invest in organisations where innovation is supported and progressive services and opportunities for musicians are delivered.
These announcements will enable Scottish Music Centre, through their national youth music initiatives, to further nurture and develop musical talent throughout Scotland over the next three years. The additional support will be used to expand and enhance existing projects as well as creating new intensive artist development opportunities.
Both projects have secured performance slots and training roles at festivals including Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and Electric Fields as well as helping emerging bands and artists gain coverage in national newspapers, radio, TV and online.
Gill Maxwell, Executive Director of the Scottish Music Centre, said,
“We are thrilled to announce Help Musicians UK is supporting Scottish Music Centre to further develop our activities throughout Scotland over the next three years. At the same time, we are delighted to become a PRS for Music Foundation Talent Development Partner.
