LUCIA Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 4 February 2018, Lucia

This looks set to be the year Glasgow-based artist Lucia makes it big. Discovered while busking in the city, her debut single Best Boy embracing hints of The Undertones, Blondie and Wall Of Sound, has already marked her out for attention on the local indie scene.

Coverage in publications including Nylon and DIY has followed, and has been accompanied by play on Radio 1 and Radio Scotland. Slots have also been confirmed at major music industry events The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.

Lucia’s latest release, Melted Ice Cream, is likely to appeal to fans of Honeyblood and The Pixies, and sets her up for a date at London’s Blue Last on 28 February. The gig provides a taster of Scottish acts set to perform at The Great Escape and also includes Declan Welsh and Rascalton.

Elle Exxe has been penning her own pop songs since the age of eight, and has ended up working with Rob Davis, best known for co-writing the Kylie hit, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.

Hailing from Edinburgh, she has already been making waves in the US, garnering airplay on over 60 radio stations. On the live front, she has already headlined Koko in London and is due to play two of the world’s largest showcase events – The Great Escape and Canadian Music Week in the early summer, to coincide with the release of her debut album.

Several tracks have already been picked up for syncs, including two seconds from her single Lost In LA used on a worldwide ad for Android. And this month also sees her song Home With You for which she directed and edited the video, added to in-store playlists in H&M, Puma and Billabong shops. Elle Exxe is undoubtedly an artist to listen and look out for.
