DECLAN WELSH & THE DECADENT WEST Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 16 April 2017, Declan Welsh & The Decadent West

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West are a punk band with strong pop influences hailing from East Kilbride.

Guaranteed to appeal to lovers of The Clash, they’ve supported artists including; The Proclaimers, Ocean Colour Scene, Eddi Reader and Glasvegas, performed at BBC 6 Music Festival in Glasgow last month and were one of only 120 UK bands, to be selected for Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent competition (whittled down from many thousands).

Welsh’ songwriting covers everyday frustrations, suburban boredom, social commentary and politics. It’s refreshing to discover an artist with genuine integrity and something relevant to say – Welsh and band are a must see.

They play a FREE gig on Friday at The Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh for our Wide Days festival (click HERE for tickets) and at The Art School in Glasgow on 26 May.

LEWIS CAPALDI Artist of the Week in Scotland On Sunday

Scotland On Sunday, 9 April 2017, Lewis Capaldi

LEWIS CAPALDI is a gifted young singer-songwriter from Bathgate in West Lothian. We first saw him tour with youth music project Hit The Road a few years ago, and he’s been on our radar ever since.

Fast-forward to present day, he sold out Glasgow’s King Tuts in January and his debut single Bruises, released only nine days ago, has achieved over one million plays via Spotify.

Capaldi boasts a distinctive, powerful voice, and possesses an uncanny ability to turn personal, poignant lyrics into hit songs with universal appeal. It’s clear this rising star is poised to make a significant impact.

See the young songwriter live on Wednesday at The Tunnels in Aberdeen, The Ironworks in Inverness on Thursday and The Mash House in Edinburgh on Friday.
