Conscious Route, True Note, Scotland On Sunday, 11 October 2020
Words by Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss. Read on Scotsman.com
Later this month, Edinburgh-based Conscious Route and producer True Note release excellent album Lost Routes showcasing a range of genres and sounds, from hip-hop and grime to electronica and rock, with lyrics exploring mental health and other personal struggles as well as political and social commentary.
It’s an incredibly accomplished album, comprising 20 tracks and six short interview-styled skits. Channel 4 has already featured music from the album on its mini documentary series, ‘Take Your Knee Off My Neck’ in response to the killing of George Floyd. We predict a lot more media attention over the coming weeks and months.
Conscious Route and True Note also enlist the skills of some well-known musicians including soul-singer Geoffrey Williams, KT Tunstall’s drummer Cat Myers and Scottish National Jazz Orchestra’s trombonist Chris Grieve.
Lost Routes is released on 20 October - listen and purchase at https://trueholdrecords.bandcamp.com/album/lost-routes
