Curtis Stigers, Live Dirty Martini, Edinburgh

CURTIS STIGERS | Live in Edinburgh | 3rd-5th December 2012
Curtis Stigers is possibly best known for his career as a multi-million selling pop star back in the 90s, with a string of big hits like I Wonder Why (he had longer hair then too)!
Stigers has toured the world with Elton John, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, sung duets with Al Green, Jules Shear and bizarrely even creator of
Family Guy and American DadSeth MacFarlane (he also had a short cameo appearance as a pianist in MacFarlane’s blockbuster comedy, Ted).
His latest album, released earlier this year, Let’s Go Out Tonight takes its name and features a song by Scottish group The Blue Nile and has received a great deal of attention by both fans and media on either side of the Atlantic.
Stigers has enjoyed mainstream success as a pop star, the sort that filled stadiums and made appearances on Leno and Letterman. Normally, Jazz artists attempt to make the crossover into the mainstream, Stigers however did exactly the opposite, turning his back on major label success to return to performing the music he loves most. For the past decade he has released seven albums on Concord Records (Gene Harris, Macy Gray, Paul McCartney).
So why turn your back on Pop-stardom? We’ll let Curtis explain, listen to his featured interview earlier this year with Stephen Duffy on BBC Radio Scotland click HERE or below.
