Dumfries Music Conference 2013

Dumfries Music Conference 2013
Scotland's leading music business event organisation, Born To Be Wide, will host an informative discussion at this year’s second annual Dumfries Music Conference at The Stove in Dumfries on Thursday 31st October.
The session will cover crucial aspects for securing press, getting gigs and music management and is aimed at providing musicians and those considering a career in music with insight into what’s involved and tips on how to succeed.

Confirmed speakers include former Snow Patrol manager Keren McKean and one of Scotland’s most popular blogs, The Pop Cop with Jason Cranwell and Sarah McMullan. They will be joined by Chay Woodman who books The Solus Tent at The Wickerman Festival as well as being a freelance music journalist. Chris Cusack, who is the booker at Glasgow’s bar BLOC+ and Born To Be Wide’s Derick Mackinnon who also co-writes a monthly music column in The Scotsman Newspaper.
The informal discussion will be preceded by a presentation from Gary Atkinson, owner of locally based and world-renowned Blues and Jazz label, Document Records, who recently partnered with Jack White from The White Stripes.

The evening will be rounded off with the opportunity for audience members to network with invited panellists, who will play some of their favourite records (as long as they are not by Morrissey or Joy Division).

Participating speakers include:
Keren McKean (former Snow Patrol Manager),
Jason Cranwell and Sarah McMullan (The Pop Cop)
Chay Woodman (The Wickerman Festival / Music Journalist),
Derick Mackinnon (Born To Be Wide / The Scotsman),
Chris Cusack (Booker, Bar Bloc, Glasgow)
Tickets are FREE but very limited so it's highly recommended you book in advance to avoid disappointment!
