With his 2018 album A Sacred Bore, Kapil Seshasayee emerged as one of Scotland’s most original new artists, creating an experimental mixture which includes Indian classical guitar, industrial bursts and even an aquaphone. Lyrically its critique of Bollywood and the caste system, further served to attract interest from a broad range of media including Pitchfork, Vice, The Guardian and Rolling Stone India. And the impressive press has been matched by equally respectable live bookings including SXSW, Latitude Festival, Celtic Connections and Cardiff Psych Festival. While Seshasayee’s more recent writing has taken a more laid back soulful direction, even hinting at Steely Dan on the Item Girl, it is not at the expense of his poetic bite.Last week he was confirmed for our Wide Days showcase in April, as well as a slot at Canadian Music Week, which will be followed by Scottish dates at Solas, Kelburn Garden Party and Jupiter Rising Festival. http://bit.ly/UTRKapil
