Underpinned by a chunky bassline which provides the perfect accompaniment for a vocal which sounds like PJ Harvey channeling Chris Isaac’s hit, Wicked Game, it has a dark groove which creeps up on the listener.Having just surfaced from the studio she is already lining up new material to release later in the year and is in the process of planning a tour of Scotland and Northern England for the autumn. In the meantime, her next live show is at Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s on 16 July – a date to remember.Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon run music industry seminar and social night, Born To Be Wide. Their next event is in partnership with Made In Adelaide and takes place at Edinburgh’s Summerhall on 9 August. It includes a panel discussion looking at how the Edinburgh festivals can provide a platform for emerging Scottish talent.
