Read on Scotsman.com [in association with EmuBands] SKJØR Artist of the Week in Scotland On SundayBeing under 18 can be problematic for a lot of musicians, ruling out the possibility of festival slots and a lot of gigs. However, Skjør (pronounced sure) have managed to turn having youth on their side into an advantage. Not only have they been offered a slot on the latest Hit The Road tour – an initiative which launched the careers of KLOË, Model Aeroplanes, Man Of Moon, JR Green, Indigo Velvet, and more – but they have just been awarded a Young Scot Nurturing Talent award. The money will be used by the band to record a new single and video, which is scheduled for release in October. In the meantime, it is worth checking out Skjør’s dreamy brand of atmospheric acoustic pop inspired by singer Louise McCraw’s time spent in Norway. The band play Leith Dockers Club in Edinburgh on 18 August, The Hug & Pint in Glasgow on 19 August and YUC in Kilwinning on 20 August. Skjør are a young team well worth looking out for.Listen at https://soundcloud.com/weareskjor Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon run the Born To Be Wide music industry social events and seminars www.borntobewide.co.uk Under the Radar is in association with EmuBands For more information on digital music distribution visit www.emubands.com and use promocode SOS for a 10% discount.* For consideration as our Artist of the Week please click HERE scroll to the bottom and review checklist of what we NEED in order to feature bands in Scotland On Sunday.
