The Chosen Lonely
Born to Scottish parents in the outskirts of Derry, Northern Ireland, Steven Barclay, aka The Chosen Lonely eventually landed in the Highland capital, Inverness where he spent his formative years learning to write songs and play various instruments (including the bagpipes read the Q&A ⬇️).
His upbeat, triumphant new single Zoom Romance; is part autobiographical, part fiction / imaginative story-telling about his new relationship, developed just before the pandemic. He’s already received a spin on BBC Introducing show RAPAL on BBC Radio Scotland (<click to listen 59 minutes in) and been championed by local media such as The Highland News, the Inverness Courier as well as airplay on Amazing Radio, thanks to Jim Gellatly plus Sunny Govan and Pulse Radio.
Barclay has supported America’s sweetheart Lewis Capaldi, played festivals like Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and his last live gigs prior to the pandemic included two sold-out shows with Highland folk-rock heavyweights Torridon at The Ironworks in Inverness and in the picturesque harbour village of Kinlochbervie. He also launched his debut EP with a gig at Glasgow institution, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut.
