Anna Leyden, Scotland On Sunday, 7 March 2021
Words by Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss. Read on Scotsman.com
As the daughter of Ulster folk musicians Jane Cassidy and Maurice Leyden, Anna Leyden was already used to performing from an early age, before going on to support The Killers and Bastille with the band Go Wolf.
When she moved from Belfast to Aberdeen to study medicine, she continued to keep her hand in by playing open mic nights and local festivals, before moving to Glasgow in 2018 to immerse herself in the city’s music scene.
Now working with a band which includes cello, trombone, double bass and drums, Leyden was awarded a Creative Scotland recording grant in 2020 and is set to release her EP All Part Of It in April. The first track, I Don’t Like You (visit http://bit.ly/AnnaLeyden) is out this FRIDAY (12 March) and she is set to stream a live performance with award-winning fiddler Charlie Stewart to coincide. A video is also in the pipeline and a release on vinyl could see the light of day later in the year. For more info check out https://www.instagram.com/annaleydenmusic
