Classical music fans will be familiar with Anna Meredith whose accolades include being Composer in Residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Her piece Connect It was an integral part of the award-winning BBC Ten Pieces project, introducing half of all UK school children to classical music, and her compositions have featured on broadcasts, films and concerts worldwide. The artist recently released her debut album Varmints which has been long-listed for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. Mixing electronica, contemporary classical, experimental rock and pop, with intermittent bursts of tuba and cello, we witnessed Meredith and band play incredible, genre-bending performances last week at Glasgow’s The Hug & Pint and at the Great Escape festival.Meredith and her band are booked to appear at various festivals this summer, and her classical music will be performed by the likes of Scottish Ensemble [in June] and Scottish Chamber Orchestra [in December].Visit: www.annameredith.com Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon run the Born To Be Wide music industry social events and seminars www.borntobewide.co.uk To win tickets for this year's Lindisfarne Festival go to http://bit.ly/LindisfarneFest-Win Under the Radar in Scotland On Sunday is in association with LINDISFARNE FESTIVAL
