Chris Ingram, Vulpes Urbana, Scotland On Sunday, 8 November 2020
Words by Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss. Read on Scotsman.com
Originally from Kirknewton in West Lothian, Chris Ingram, aka Wee Scots Poet now lives in Wrexham, Wales. He’s a prolific collaborator, working with a revolving group of musicians, from as far afield as Vietnam (Leon Poyser), Ireland (latest single So High ⬇️features Richard Geraghty) as well as local bandmates Vulpes Urbana, Hazel Ogden, John Ramm and David Watson.
Ingram and Co. create an intriguing mix of psychedelic, poetry-driven folk-hop, inspired by the likes of say Beta Band and Arab Strap. Tracks bring together social or political commentary alongside retro 1990s references like Space Invaders and White Lightning; at times it sounds like the soundtrack for Trainspotting 3.
They’ve played Focus Wales, supported acts like Cate Le Bon and been championed by Tom Robinson on 6 Music. New single So High and Vulpes Urbana album Speak are released via CEG Records tomorrow https://www.cegrecords.com/chris-ingram and https://www.cegrecords.com/vulpes-urbana
