Kevin P Gilday and The Glasgow Cross is the eponymous musical vehicle of the acclaimed spoken word artist and multi-instrumentalist (and neuroscientist) Ralf Hector, so it should it should come as no surprise that the lyrics are top of the range. Set to equally engaging musical accompaniments, which vary from jazzy grooves, vintage synths and up-tempo post-punk, they blend witty social observations with biting humour.

Last week the duo released the tracks A Sensitive Man and The Artist Is Present via Hector’s Iffy Folk Records, reaffirming the masterful creative partnership previously demonstrated on their debut album, Experience Essential. This includes works of genius such as There’s A Workie In My House, The Man Who Loved Beer and Hitler’s Moustache

Although forced to postpone the launch gigs for its follow up, Pure Concrete (due out on vinyl on 29 May), Gilday and Hector plan to record a series of conversations about the origins and stories behind each of the tracks. Find out more at https://www.facebook.com/kpgandthegc
