With many of us in the music media sharing broadly similar tastes, occasionally artists in certain genres can go unnoticed by reviewers, radio presenters and bloggers. Fortunately, our friends at STV Edinburgh brought Fife trio, The Amorettes to our attention after they recorded a session for the channel. Providing a seamless link to mid-80s heavy rock, minus the minging spandex, the band already have a major European tour under their belts supporting Swedish hair metalists Europe, as well as several festival appearances. Fire At Will is the first single from their debut album Game On, released in the UK tomorrow and internationally next month. Produced by Chris Tsangarides, who has worked with everyone from Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy, to Sisters of Mercy and Tom Jones, it is sure to appeal to both older Kerrang readers and a whole new generation of heavy rock fans. We look forward to the summer tour.Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon run music industry convention Wide Days which takes place on 10 – 11 April at The Pleasance Theatre and The Electric Circus visit www.widedays.com For consideration as our artist of the week or any other news please contact: Derick Mackinnon
