Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon, Scotland On Sunday, 20 March, Tongues
Based in Glasgow, electro-pop quartet Tongues have featured on Huw Stephens' BBC Radio 1 show and BBC Radio Scotland's Vic Galloway tipped them as ones to watch for 2016.Singles Religion and You Never Knew Me lit up the blogosphere, receiving over one million plays across SoundCloud and Spotify, and a No 1 spot on Hypem.comThey sound like a household name; uplifting vocals, soaring melodies and insanely catchy hooks coupled with a masterful use of synthesisers, vocoders, bleeps and blips. The real surprise is a major record label hasn’t signed them!We were so impressed, we’ve booked them for our Wide Days festival on 22 April at La Belle Angèle [click for FREE tickets] in Edinburgh. With a new release scheduled for late April / early May, they’ll be announcing live appearances to coincide shortly. We predict big things.Listen at: https://soundcloud.com/tonguesmusic [including a collaborative track produced by Chicago-based Ennui].
