Settling in Edinburgh, he played numerous gigs using a home-made amp which eventually led to him coming into contact with local musicians and forming the band Zed Penguin. However, after putting out a 12” on Song, By Toad Records five years ago, his plans to follow up with an album were delayed after he suffered a serious accident. Now recovered, Winter went to finish the job at the Edinburgh Recording Company, an analogue studio housed in a church. The result, A Ghost, A Beast is released on Song, By Toad in late February and is promising to be a musical highlight of 2018.
