INTRODUCING: Chris Ingram aka Vulpes Urbana

Based in the Welsh town of Wrexham (originally from Kirknewton), Chris Ingram aka Wee Scots Poet was performing with a revolving group of musicians under the moniker Vulpes Urbana,  before the pandemic took hold.

Several musicians are based in Wales alongside Chris, with Hazel Ogden in Holywell, John Ramm also in Wrexham and David Watson a short hop across the border in Chester. Ingram has also collaborated with Richard Geraghty in Dublin and Leon Poyser in Ho Chi Minh, as far afield as Vietnam.

The result is an intriguing mix of folk-hop, psychedelic, poetry driven vibes inspired by the likes of say Beta Band, Ivor Cutler and Arab Strap. Each track mixes scathing social and political commentary alongside 1990s references like the 10p crisps Space Invaders and budget cider White Lightning.

They’ve been championed by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, Fresh On The Net and BBC Introducing and played festivals such as the excellent Focus Wales and supported the likes of Cate Le Bon.
