Highland trio Spring Break like to describe themselves as a psychedelic funk folk outfit, but to our ears, this week’s chosen track, The Slouch [ http://bit.ly/1IvyX7B ], is more reminiscent of the laid back, happy hip-hop of the early 90s. Fresh from a series of dates supporting Stanley Odd the band release their four track debut EP, Departure Lounge, on Monday. The other songs also combine acoustic guitar with female backing vocals and a healthy injection of humour, which in some cases is reminiscent of the band they have just accompanied on tour.Spring Break play Hootananny in Inverness on April 24 and Fort William’s Maryburgh Inn, the following night. The band will also be appearing at the Brew At The Bog Festival, which takes place on the Bogbain Farm on 2-3 May. Additional dates are set to be announced on their Facebook soon.Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon run music industry night Born To Be Wide visit www.borntobewide.co.uk For consideration as our artist of the week or any other news please contact: Derick Mackinnon
